At St Joseph and St Bede, our curriculum is a planned programme of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives – both now and in the future.
RSE lessons begin in the Early Years and are progressively built upon, right through the school into Year 6. RSE is delivered through the ‘Ten:Ten Life to the Full’ scheme recommended by Salford Diocese. It is the school’s policy that the scheme is delivered from EYFS to Year 6 over the year with a progressive curriculum. This scheme will teach RSE within the context of a Christian understanding of human sexuality rooted in the wisdom and teaching of the Catholic Church. School staff are responsible for the delivery of the scheme. External agencies and healthcare professionals may also have an input, although always in line with our school ethos and the Church’s teaching. RSE forms part of our wider PSHE curriculum, which is is a valuable central thread of our whole school curriculum, and essential for the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our pupils.
